The European Championship of Chess Veterans has drawn to a close at the Chess House after Tigran Petrosian.
In the men’s competition of veterans aged 50 and above, Zurab Sturua became a champion for the second year in a row, Georgi Bagaturovin placed second and Rafael Vahanyan – third.
In the women’s competition of veterans aged 50 and above, Galina Strutinskaya came in first, Tsiala Kasoshvili – second and Svetlana Mednikova – third.
In the men’s competition of veterans aged 65 and above the European champion title was taken by Valentin Bogdanov. Victor Kupreychik grabbed silver and Bent Sorensen – bronze.
Nona Gabrindashvili became the winner among women aged 65 and above. Lyuba Kuznecova won a silver medal and Tamar Khmiadashvili – a bronze medal.
