The Olympic athletes’ village of the 31st Olympic Games is already ready.
The Rio Olympic village consists of 31 buildings of up to 17 floors each with 3604 apartments which can host 10500 athletes. More than 13.000 volunteers and staff members will serve the hosts. It is the largest Olympic village in the history of Olympic Games.
The opening ceremony of the Rio Olympics will take place on August 5 at legendary stadium of Rio. From August 5 to 21 within 17 days 10.500 athletes from 205 countries will compete for a collection of 306 medals. The Olympic Games will be held in 33 venues of four regions of Rio; Copacabana, Maracana, Deodoro and Bara. The mascots of these games (the Olympic and Paralympic Games), Vinisius and Tom, comprise elements of Brazilian flora and fauna. The mascots of the Olympic and Paralympic Games were named after the legends of Brazilian music, Vinicius de Morais and Antonio Carlos Jobin. The colors of the Olympic torch correspond to the colors of Brazil’s flag as well as symbolize the sky, the land, the sea and the earth.
