The 2016 Armenian Athletics Championship was held at Artashat city stadium during which 35 medals were raffled.
Artyom Aleksanyan became Armenia’s champion in the high jump (1, 95). In the discus throw the best results were registered by Hermine Avetisyan (43m 20 cm) and Albert Martirosyan (44m 74cm). In the shot put competition Albert Martirosyan became Armenia’s champion with 17m 08cm result while Hermine Avetisyan (12m 51cm) was named the best among women. In the javelin throw Albert Martirosyan (60m 15cm) and Christine Harutyunyan (38m 87cm) placed first.
Gor Nerkararyan came in first in the long jump (7m 35cm) and Christine Harutyunyan conquered gold among women (5m 63cm). In the triple jump Levon Aghasyan (16m 85cm) became Armenia’s champion and simultaneously set an Olympic norm.
In the 100m sprint race Gayane Chiloyan (12. 03sec.) came in first among women and Artur Muradyan (10. 92 sec.) – among men. In the women’s 200m Gayane Chiloyan reached the Olympic norm and overcame the distance in 23, 16 sec.. In the men’s competition Artur Muradyan ran the same distance in 22. 39 sec.. Stela Tamrazyan (58. 51 sec.) and Tigran Mkrtchyan (48. 68 sec.) won gold medals in the 400m. In the 800m Ellada Alaverdyan (2.23.31) was the best among women and Tigran Mkrtchyan (1.53.33) – among men.
In the 1500m event Yervand Mkrtchyan (3min. 56.81sec.) and Lilith Harutyunyan (5min. 09.12sec.) showed the best results. Stela Tamrazyan (11min. 34.58sec.) and Yervand Mkrtchyan (8min. 38.15sec.) overcame first the 3000m distance.
In the 4x100 meters relay the best were AOS teams while in the 4x400 meters relay the winners became Vanadzor’s teams.
