The European Men’s and Women’s Weightlifting Championships are kicking of in Forde, Norway.
The Armenian teams will compete with 15 athletes and are one of the biggest delegation at the championships. Finland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Poland and Turkey will participate with big teams, too.
The women’s team led by head coach Artashes Nersisyan is comprised of 7 athletes and Pashik Alaverdyan’s team has 8 weightlifters. Anna Govelyan will compete first. On April 11 she will come out in subgroup B of 53kg weight class.
On April 12 Izabella Yaylyan (58kg, subgroup A), Vanik Avetisyan (69kg, subgroup A) and Rostam Karapetyan (69kg, subgroup A) will fight for medals.
The next day Armenia will be represented by 4 athletes – Arakel Mirzoyan (85kg subgroup C), Christine Petrosyan (63kg, subgroup A), Andranik Karapetyan and Tigran Martirosyan (77kg).
On April 14 Aghasi Aghasyan at 85kg, subgroup B and world former champion Nazik Avdalyan at 69kg, subgroup A will fight for a champion title.
On April 15 Sona Poghosyan (75kg, subgroup A) will try to succeed.
On the last day of the championships heavyweight and super heavyweight athletes will perform. In the men’s competition Simon Martirosyan (105kg) and Gor Minasyan (105+kg) will compete in subgroup A. In the women’s competition Hripsime Khurshudyan and Arpine Dalalyan will struggle for the victory at 75kg.
This year 344 athletes from 40 countries are taking part in the European Weightlifting Championship
