IOC to create an independent anti-doping division for the Rio Olympics

13:00 - 02 Mar, 2016

The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee has made a decision to delegate the anti-doping issues of the 31st Rio Olympics to a new, independent body.

The Anti-doping Division will become a part of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and will handle the process of making testing and decisions on anti-doping violations. After the Olympics the Anti-doping Division will revise the results to get a more accurate picture.
The creation of the new division is aimed at making the anti-doping testing independent of sports organizations.
The Rio Olympic Games will be held from August 5 to 21.
