Armenia freestyle wrestling team takes part in the 20th international tournament devoted to the prominent athletes and coaches of Ukraine.
In the first day of competition wrestlers of 57kg, 65kg, 74kg and 97ks weight classes came out.
Garik Barseghyan (57kg) was the only Armenian wrestler who managed to succeed. In the 1/8 finals he won Aleksander Bulatin of Ukraine, in the quarter finals he gained advantage over Ukraine’s Sergey Ratushni but in the semifinals lost again to a Ukrainian wrestler. In the fight for the bronze medal Barseghyan won Armen Arakelyan of Ukraine.
Armenia is represented by Garik Barseghyan, Garnik Mnatcakanyan (57kg), Valodya Frangulyan (61kg), Davit Safaryan (65kg), Valter Margaryan (70kg), Grigor Grigoryan, Varuzhan Kajoyan (74kg), Musa Murtazaliev, Shamir Atyan, Hajimurad Nurmogamedov, Sargis Hovsepyan (86kg), Edgar Yenokyan, Andranik Galstyan (97kg) and Levan Berianidze (125kg).
The tournament has brought together 100 wrestlers from 6 countries of the world.
The tournament is being held in Kiev from February 12 to14.
