Armenian athletes grabbed one gold and three bronze medals at the International Fencing Tournament in Kutaisi, Georgia. Among fencers from Armenia, Georgia, Turkey and Azerbaijan, Armenia’s representative Eduard Ovikyan (sword) became the tournament winner. The third place took Razmik Vardanyan (sword), another bronze medal grabbed Armen Dalakyan (rapier). Among women Emma Poghosova placed 3rd (sword).
“We have missed one medal as our front runner Arpine Atoyan got injured during trainings and after winning once dropped out of the competition. I had more expectations, but anyway we have a winner and prize winners and could come out well”, said the Armenian Fencing Federation Secretary General, Artash Madoyan to ANOC.
Armenia’s Junior Team joined in the tournament with 15 fencers: 6 girls (rapier and sword), 9 boys (rapier and sword).
