Armenia judo team member Zhanna Stankevich grabbed bronze at the international tournament European Judo Open Sofia.

The Armenian representative gained advantage over Germany’s Nieke Nordmeyer in the first fight. In the quarter-finals Stankevich won Nederland’s Birgit Ente while in the semifinals our judoka conceded to Turkey’s Ayse Arca. In the fight for the bronze medal Stankevich defeated Germany’s Maria Ertl.

In addition to the bronze medal Zhanna Stankevich earned 40 qualifying points for the Rio Olympics.

European Judo Open Sofia has kicked off on January 30 and will end on January 31.
