The Organising Committee of the 32nd Olympic Games to be held in Japanese capital Tokyo, will regularly check the quality of water in Odiaba, Tokyo Bay, where marathon swimming and triathlon events will be held.
During test competitions dangerous bacteria have been found in the bay that caused concern among swimmers and representatives of international federations and some of triathlon competitions have been cancelled.
Till the beginning of the Olympic Games the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee and the administration of the Japenese capital need to find out why the water quality has suddenly worsened.
The start of some competitions may be changed and take place early in the morning. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will make a decision on this issue at the Executive Committee session which will be held from 3-5 December.
The Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 will be held in the Japanese capital from 24 July to 9 August.
