Armenia’s representative Liana Gyurjyan has become a gold medalist of the U20 and U23 European Weightlifting Championships underway in Bucharest, Romania.
The 17-year-old athlete who competed in the 81 kg weight class among U20 weightlifters scored a total of 215 kg (95+120) and lifted 14 kilos more than second place holder Russian athlete.
Liana Gyurjyan managed all six attempts and won small gold medals in the snatch and in the clean and jerk.
It was Armenia’s second medal in the total score. Earlier Rafik Harutyunyan (81 kg) had become a bronze medalist among U20 weightlifters.
