Karapet Chalyan at 77 kg lost 2:5 to Sweden’s Alex Kessidis in the semifinal of the World Championship. In the second part of the match the Armenian wrestler was winning 2:1 but made a gross error after which Kessidis made a four-point fall.
Chalyan had entered the championship from the 1/16 final where had won 4:2 Japanese Shohei Yabiku and in the 1/8 final he had gained advantage 9:0 over Venezuela’s Rivas Espinoza. In the quarterfinal he had won 5:4 Belarusian Pavel Liakh.
Chalyan has already secured the second Olympic qualification for the Armenia team.
Today in the evening Artur Aleksanyan will wrestle against Russia’s Musa Evloev for a world champion title.
