Aslanyan wrestled with Serb Mate Nemes for a European Games bronze medal and suffered defeat 1:2.

Karen Aslanyan had started performing from the 1/8 finals where had won 4:0 Bulgarian Svilen Kostadinov.

In the ¼ final Aslanyan had defeated 6:1 Norwegian Haavard Joergensen but had lost the semifinal to Georgian Shmagi Bolkvadze, 0:5.
