The Armenian Junior Swimming Championship took place at the local swimming pool of Gyumry which was attended by 150 swimmers. “This Championship gives opportunity to choose the best junior swimmers and to form Armenia’s national team. The chosen swimmers will participate in Aleksandr Popov Swimming Tournament held in Yekaterinburg in December. The swimming keeps developing in Armenia. This year three records were set by junior female swimmers. We have a good generation, it is important for the swimming development. It is also important to have a swimming pool for trainings. The fact that the swimming pool is closed during winter, is a big obstacle. We hope this problem will be solved soon, otherwise the best swimmers from Gyumri will be taken to Yerevan for trainings”, noted the head coach of Armenia’s junior team, Arman Vahanyan.

Holding the Championship in Gyumri has purpose to spread the sport throughout the country. Many swimmers from Yerevan, Gyumri and Vanadzor took part in the tournament.
