The Junior World Wrestling Championship has kicked off in Macon, France.
On the first day of competition Greco-Roman wrestlers Sergey Simonyan (50kg), Gevorg Khumaryan (60kg) and Arman Baghdasaryan (74kg) competed.
In the first bout Simonyan (50kg) gave no chance to Azerbaijani Ziyad Zeynalov (8:0). In the quarter-finals the Armenian wrestler won an Italian athlete and qualified for the semifinals where he lost to Russian Vladislav Melnikov 4:8. In the bout for the bronze medal Simonyan won Kirgiz Adilet Taalaibekov 2:1.
Gevorg Khumaryan at 60kg won Uzbekistan’s representative in the first bout but couldn’t overcome a Ukrainian wrestler and dropped out of the further competition.
Arman Baghdasaryan (74kg) lost the first bout 2:5 to Romanian George Mariea who reached the final giving opportunity to the Armenian athlete to fight against a Turk wrestler in the repechage. Unfortunately, Baghdasaryan lost.
On August 31st wrestlers of 55kg, 66kg, 84kg and 120kg weight classes vwill meet on the mat.
