Wrestler Artur Aleksanyan is an Olympic champion

In the final of the 31st Summer Olympic Games Aleksanyan won Cuba's Lugo Cabrera 3:0 and became a champion.
The world reigning champion's, Aleksanyan's, first opponent was Italian Daigoro Timoncini whom the Armenian wrestler won 5-2.
In the second fight Aleksanyan defeated Romania's Alin Ciurariu 8:0 without any difficulty and qualified for the semifinals. There winning a Turk athlete with an absolute advantage, 9:0, Aleksanyan qualified for the final.
