Yerevan “Urartu’’ basketball club the core of which will mainly be the players of the Armenia national team  main will take part in the Russian Super League-1 in October 2016.

At present the regulation of some organizational issues concerning the club has begun.

According to the preliminary information, 13 clubs will participate in the 2016/17 Russian
Super League. All the clubs except ‘’Urartu’’ will be Russian. The play list of the championship will be published soon.

The championship will kick off in October 2016 and will end in spring 2017.

The Armenian club will spend the home games at Yerevan “Mika” stadium. The repair of the structure has already begun.

Let us recall, that this year in July the Armenia national basketball team performed successfully at the European Championship for Small Countries after which it was decided to create a professional basketball club for preserving the combativeness of the national team. The club will take part in regular championships.
