The 2016 European Junior Wrestling Championship has kicked off in the Romanian capital city of Bucharest.
Greco-Roman wrestlers of 50kg, 66kg, 74kg and 96kg weight classes competed on the first day of the championship.
Armenia’s Gevorg Khumaryan (60kg) won Ukrainian Alexander Khrushin 10:8 in the bout for a bronze medal. The Armenian wrestler had started the struggle from the 1/8 finals where had lost to a Georgian athlete 0:9. In the repechage round Khumaryan had gained advantage over Hungarian Erik Torba (5:4).
Sergey Simonyan (55kg) and Arman Baghdasaryan (74kg) lost the fights for bronze and Varsham Makaryan at 96kg lost from the first fight.
On June 22 wrestlers of 55kg, 60kg, 84kg and 120kg weight classes will compete.
