The official website of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia continues the project, “Road to Rio”, before the start of the 31st Rio Summer Olympic Games where it will tell about the athletes representing Armenia at the Olympics, and their photos made by photographer Hakob Berberyan specially for the “Road to Rio” project.
The next hero of our project is Armenia’s Greco-Roman wrestling team member Mihran Harutyunyan (66kg). He was born in Ejmiatsin in 1989. The wrestler resides in Moscow and was a member of the Russian team till 2012. The Rio Olympic Games will be the first Olympics for him.
It was Mihran Harutyunyan that won the only silver medal for Armenia at the first European Games in Baku. Few people know that Harutyunyan is also good at singing and photographing and his favorite town is spiritual capital Ejmiatsin. During the photo session Mihran had with him the Ejmiatsin’s flag which he takes with him to every tournament and training camp. As he says, his daughter, Monica, is the biggest victory in his life.
