Armenia’s Greco-Roman team member, Olympic Games bronze medalist, two-time World and tree-time European champion Artur Aleksanyan was named the best athlete of the year.
The 2015 top 10 athletes were determined according to the survey of the Sports Journalists Federation.
34 sports journalists took part in the survey and recognized the number one athlete of Armenia World champion, Greco-Roman wrestler Artur Aleksanyan.
The top 10 are:
1. Artur Aleksanyan – Greco-Roman wrestling, 339 points
2. Mihran Harutyunyan – Greco-Roman wrestling, 267 points
3. Harutyun Merdinyan – Sports Gymnastics, 265 points
4 . Tigran Martirosyan – weightlifting, 231 points
5. Artur Tovmasyan – Sports Gymnastics, 113 points
6 . Arman Yeremyan – taekwondo, 107 points
7 . Tigran Kirakosyan – sambo, 106 points
8 . Aram Avagyan – boxing, 101 points
9 . Andranik Karapetyan – weightlifting, 99 points
10 . Smbat Margaryan – weightlifting, 95 points
The best team was crowned Armenia’s chess team.
The sports journalists have also noted 3 athletes in the questionnaires: Artur Davtyan (sports gymnastics, 81 points), Levon Aronyan (chess, 35 points) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (football, 31 points).
