Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), was awarded Honorary Doctorate of the University of Gdansk. The Olympic champion was given honor in recognition of his contribution to the development of the Olympic movement and support of human rights and world peace.

“Our goal is to make the world a better place through sport,” Thomas Bach said accepting the prize.

Let us recall the IOC president had recently attended the Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) World Conference in Katowice, Poland which had been dedicated to the fight against doping.
