The Armenia chess teams have started with victories the European Team Chess Championship being held in Batumi, Georgia.
The Armenia men’s team won Norway 3.5։0.5. Gabriel Sargsyan, Hayk Martirosyan and Arman Pashikyan celebrated victories and Hrant Melkumyan tied the game.
The Armenia women’s team gained advantage over Finland, 3.5։0. Siranush Ghukasyan, Maria Gevorgyan and Anna Sargsyan won while Lilit Mkrtchyan ended the game in a draw.
The Armenia teams performed without their leading players, Levon Aronyan and Elina Danielyan.
In the second round the men’s team will compete with Croatia and the women’s team’s rival will be France.
