Sahak Hovhannisyan at 60 kg and Shant Khachatryan at 67 kg have reached the final of the World Wrestling Junior Championship underway in Tallinn, Estonia.
Hovhannisyan started the struggle from the qualification round where 9:0 won Switzerland’s representative. In the 1/8 finals he gained advantage over an Indian wrestler with the same score.
In the quarterfinals Sahak’s opponent was 2019 European Championship gold medalist Georgian Diego Chkhikvadze whom he had conceded 1:2 in the semifinals of the European Championship.
Here the Armenian wrestler had a confident victory 5:0 over Chkhikvadze and reached the semifinal where defeated 6:0 a Russian wrestler. In the final Hovhannisyan’s opponent will be Turk Kerem Kamal.
Shant Khachtryan at 67 kg also started performing from the 1/16 finals where he won 9:0 an Estonian wrestler. Then Khachtryan won 12:6 Tunisian Maafi by touché. In the quarterfinals Shant defeated 8:3 Moldavian Petic. In the semifinals the Armenian wrestler had a volitional and nice victory over Turk Abdul Basar. Khachatryan’s rival in the final will be Georgian Giorgi Shotadze.
At 72 kg Samvel Grigoryna lost 2:5 to an Azerbaijani wrestler in the starting bout. However, his opponent reached the final and Grigoryan got a chance to continue the struggle for a bronze medal. At 82 kg Karen Khachatryan won 6:3 Finland’s representative in the 1/16 finals but lost 0:8 to an Iranian wrestler in the 1/8 finals. The latter lost in the semifinals, and Khachatryan dropped out of the competition.
