Armenia’s freestyle wrestling team member World and 2013 European champion Davit Safaryan (65kg) became the winner of Nusuyev Memorial Tournament.
In the 1/8 finals Armenia’s wrestler blew away Russia’s Artemir Kuantov (10:0). In the quarter finals Safaryan defeated Ossetia’s Aslan Koshti with a score of 10:6. For the passage to the final the Armenian athlete competed with a 19 year-old Dagestani Ahmed Usmanov. Till the last minute Safaryan conceded to the young opponent 1:3 but unexpectedly 3 second before the end of the fight he managed to extort a victory (6:3). In the final he overpowered Dagestan’s Murshid Mutalimov 3:1.
Armenia’s next representative, 2014 European Championship’s bronze medalist Garik Barseghyan (57kg) gained advantage over Magomedrasul Magomedov (6:1) in the first fight but was defeated by Dagestan’s Artyom Gebekov in the quarter-finals. However, the Armenian wrestler still had chance of conquering bronze. In a consolation bout Barseghyan won Stepan Sorkomov 2:3. Fighting for bronze the Armenian wrestler beat 10:3 Moldova’s representative Aleksander Kirtoake.
On December 5 Armenia’s last representative Hajimurad Nurmagomedov will come out in the ring.
The Memorial Tournament after Russian Merited coach Shevalye Nusuyev has kicked off on December 4 at Moscow’s CSKA gym and ends on December 5.
