Greco-Roman wrestler Artur Aleksanyan (97 kg) will fight for a gold medal of the European Games.
The Olympic gold medalist wrestled with Russia’s Aleksandr Golovin in the semifinal of the 2nd European Games underway in Minsk.
Aleksanyan won 3:1 and qualified for the final where he will compete with Belarusian Aliaksandr Hrabovik.
The world and European multiple champion had started the competition from the 1/8 final where won 2:1 Georgian Revazi Nadareishvili and in the ¼ final Aleksanyan had defeated 3:1 Austrian Daniel Gastl.
Maksim Manukyan (87 kg) had also entered the mat on June 29 but had lost the first fight to Ukraine’s Zhan Beleniuk, 1:5.
In the semifinal Beleniuk had had a victory 3:1 over Belarusian Radzik Kuliyeu and had reached the final letting Manukyan to participate in the repechage round.
On June 30 Manukyan’s opponent in the repechage bout will be Polish Arkadiusz Kulynycz.
