Greco-Roman wrestler Karapet Chalyan (77 kg) has a chance to become a champion of the European Games.
In the semifinals of the European Games underway in Minsk Chalyan wrestled with Hungarian Tamas Lorincz.
The Armenian wrestler won 4:1 and qualified for the final where will face Russia’s Aleksandr Chekhirkin.
Karapet Chalyan had started the competition from the 1/8 finals having a confident win over Ukraine’s Elmar Nuraliev, 9:0.
In the ¼ final Chalyan had wrestled with Moldavian Igor Beshleaga and had won 2:1.
Karen Aslanyan (67 kg) who also started performing on June 28 will fight for a bronze medal.
In the semifinal Karen Aslanyan competed with Georgian Shmagi Bolkvadze and lost 0:5.
Aslanyan will fight for a bronze medal.
The bout will take place on June 29.
Karen Aslanyan had entered the competition from the 1/8 finals.
Aslanyan had celebrated victory 4:0 over Bulgarian Svilen Kostandinov in the first fight and in the ¼ finals he had won Norwegian Haavard Joergensen, 6:1.
Today Armen Melikyan (60 kg) also entered the mat and lost the first bout to Turkey’s Kerem Kamal.
