Greco-Roman wrestlers have started the competition at the European Games in Belarusian capital Minsk.
On June 28 Armenian representatives Armen Melikyan (60 kg), Karen Aslanyan (67 kg) and Karapet Chalyan (77 kg) entered the mat.
Karen Aslanyan celebrated victory 4:0 over Bulgarian Svilen Kostandinov in the first fight.
The Bulgarian wrestler ended the fight ahead of time because of an injury.
In the ¼ final Aslanyan wrestled with Norwegian Haavard Joergensen and won 6:1.
Aslanyan reached the semifinal where he will face Georgian Shmagi Bolkvadze.
Karapet Chalyan’s first opponent was Ukraine’s Elmar Nuraliev whom the Armenian wrestler defeated 9:0.
In the ¼ final Chalyan wrestled with Moldavian Igor Beshleaga and won 2:1.
In the semifinal Chalyan’s rival will be Hungarian Tamas Lorincz.
Armen Melikyan fought from the 1/8 finals where lost 0:4 to Turkey’s Kerem Kamal. In the next fight the Turk wrestler conceded to Russia’s Stepan Maryanyan (2:5), so Melikyan lost the chance to fight in the repechage round.
