The third competition day has begun at the European Games underway in Minsk, Belarus.
On June 23 samboists will perform. Armenia has three representatives – Tigran Kirakosyan (52 kg), Arsen Ghazaryan (74 kg) and Grigor Sahakyan (90 kg).
Tigran Kirakosyan started the struggle from the quarterfinals where his opponent was Ukraine’s Roman Bratchenko.
The Armenian samboist won 7:0 and qualified for the semifinals where took advantage over Russia’s Andrei Kubarkov (3:3) and got a chance to wrestle for a gold medal.
In the final Kirakosyan’s rival will be Azerbaijani Aghasif Samadov.
Grigor Sahakyan also commenced with a confident victory prevailing over Czech Miroslav Vaceki, 8:0.
In the semifinals Sahakyan competed with Russia’s Sergei Ryabov and lost 1:3.
Sahakyan will fight for a bronze medal.
Arsen Ghazaryan faced Russia’s Stanislav Skraibkin in the quarterfinals and suffered defeat, 1:2.
Ghazaryan will participate in the repechage bout where he will face Azebaijani Abdula Abdulaev.
Earlier on June 22 Armenian samboists David Grigoryan (82 kg), Maksim Manukyan (57 kg) and Asya Lalazaryan (48 kg) had started the competition where Grigoryan had become a silver medalist while Manukyan and Lalazaryan had conceded defeat in the fights for bronze.
