Armenia’s representatives won one gold and one silver medal on the last day of the Freestyle Wrestling Junior European Championship ended in Pontevedra, Spain.
Hrachya Margaryan (61 kg) deserved the champion title of the European Championship while Mher Markosyan (61 kg) became a runner-up.
In the final Hrachya Margaryan won 11:0 Ukrainian Oleksandr Yevsieienko ahead of time while Mher Markosyan lost 2:3 to Georgian Miriani Maisuradze in a tense struggle.
The Armenia freestyle wrestling youth team had left for the European Championship with nine wrestlers and won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals. On June 8 Arman Andreasyan (70 kg) and Arman Avagyan (79 kg) had been named bronze medalists.
Harutyun Manukyan (57 kg), Gegham Galstyan (65 kg), Hrayr Alikhanyan (74 kg), Kolya Harutyunyan (97 kg) and Ashot Rushanyan (125 kg) had also performed at the championship with the Armenia team.
Lets us recall the Armenia Greco-Roman wrestling youth team had also participated in the championship with nine wrestlers and had won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals. Malkhas Amoyan (72 kg) had been named European junior champion, Hayk Melikyan (67 kg) had become a silver medalist and Sahak Hovhannisyan (60 kg) and Hrachya Poghosyan (63 kg) had won bronze medals.
