The Armenia sambo team has ended up with one gold, four silver and two bronze medals at the European Championship spent in Gijon, Spain.

In the sports sambo team event the Armenia team has placed third with one gold, three silver and one bronze medals. Russia came first in the team event (5-2-2) and Georgia – third (2-1-2).

Earlier, Tigran Kirakosyan (52 kg) became a European champion in sports sambo, Grigor Mkhitaryan (57 kg), Maksim Manukyan (62 kg) and Vahagn Chalyan (82 kg)were named silver medalists and Rafik Manukyan (68 kg) deserved bronze.
In the combat sambo competition John Balayan (52 kg) won a silver medal and Poghos Dadalyan (57 kg) - a bronze medal.
The Armenia sambo team had joined the European Championship with 19 athletes. About 230 athletes of 29 countries fought for medals.
