International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach took part in the session of the National Olympic Committee of Australia. During the meeting the autonomy of the Olympic Movement was discussed.
“If we aren’t able to preserve our autonomy the Olympic Games will become political which is unacceptable. Because of the political events we all know I couldn’t defend my gold medal at the Moscow 1880 Olympic Games. That unpleasant experience had a big impact on my future life becoming one of the reasons why I became a president of the International Olympic Committee,” Thomas Bach said.
Let us recall that in 1976 Thomas Bach became an Olympic team champion being in the Germany fencing team and also won world champion title next year.
