In the 3rd round of the Grenke Chess Classic ongoing in Germany leader of the Armenia chess team Levon Aronyan shared a point with Spanish Francisco Vallejo playing with white pieces.
In the previous 2 rounds the Armenian GM had tied the games with Arkadij Naidich (Azerbaijan) and German Georg Meier.
The following games ended in a draw too; Magnis Carlsen (Norway) vs Viswanathan Anand (India), Maxime Vachiev-Lagrave (France) vs Arkadij Naiditsch (Azerbaijan). As for the rest games Peter Svidler (Russia) won Georg Meier (Germany) and Fabiano Caruana (USA) overcame 14-year-old Vincent Keymer (Germany).
On April 23, in round 4 Levon Aronyan will play with white pieces against Peter Svidler who has gained 2,2 points and ranks first with current world champion Magnus Carlsen.
Let us recall Levon Aronyan had become the winner of the Grenke Сhess Сlassic in 2017 and last year had shared the 3-5th places.
