Lianna Gyurjyan’s personal coach Ashot Danielyan summed up the 17-year-old athlete’s performance at 81 kg of the European Weightlifting Championship coming to an end in Batumi, Georgia.
Gyurjyan placing 4th in the combined event won a small silver medal in the clean and jerk.
“I’m pleased with Lianna Gyurjyan as she could perform at full strength and lifted her highest kilograms. It’s a fact that with time the medals will be changed. In 1-2 years Lianna will be the leader among seniors and will stand on the first place of honor. We could also win a medal in the snatch but it becomes clear only after a competition. I assess Lianna’s participation as excellent. In the next competitions we will try to increase the number of medals,” said two-time European weightlifting champion Ashot Danielyan.
Let us recall, 7 athletes competed in this weight class. The title of European champion was taken by Greek Eleni Konstantinidi whose total result was 223kg (97+126). German Nina Shchrot came second with 222 kg (102+120) and Anna Vanberlingen – third with 221 kg (103+118).
