The Armenian gymnasts have returned to Armenia from Doha where they took part in the World Cup. In an interview given to the Armenian NOC press office the head coach of the Armenia gymnastics team, Hakob Serobyan, has summed up our athletes’ performances.
“We left for Doha with 4 participants. They all reached the finals: it’s a 100% result. I’m very pleased with the guys’ performances. 3 medals is a great achievement. Especially, Arthur Davtyan rejoiced and surprised us. He sprained his leg on the first day of the competition and his participation was in question. On the finals day he asked to participate telling he was feeling good. You saw with your own eyes he not only took part but also became a bronze medalist.”
Speaking about their plans Serobyan noted there was still one training camp before the European Championship.
“On April 28 we are going to Tbilisi where we will have a ten-day training camp and travel to Poland for the European Championship which is qualifying for the European Games expected in Minsk.”
At the European Championship Armenia will be represented by Arthur Davtyan, Vahagn Davtyan, Arthur Tovmasyan, Harutyun Merdinyan, Arthur Avetisyan and Vigen Khachatryan.
Let us recall at the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup held in Doha our gymnasts conquered 3 medals. Arthur Davtyan (vault) and Vahagn Davtyan (rings) became bronze medalists and Arthur Tovmasyan (rings) won a silver medal. At pommel horse Harutyun Merdinyan took the 5th position.
