Three athletes representing Armenia, runners Diana Khubeseryan, Gayane Chiloyan and triple jumper Levon Aghasyan, started the competition at the Rio Olympic stadium.

In the women's 200m running Diana Khubeseryan (25, 16sec) and Gayane Chiloyan (25,03sec) came second last in their subgroup and didn't overcome the qualification round.

Triple jumper Levon Aghasyan placed 18th in the subgroup scoring 15, 54 meters and failed to overcome the qualification round.

At 21:45, local time hurdler Lilit Harutyunyan will launch at the Games and on August 16th Amaliya Sharoyan will compete.
