Gymnasts started their performances on the first competition day in the Olympic capital Rio. Armenian team member, European reigning champion Harutyun Merdinyan scoring 15, 583 points on pommel horse and placing 4^th qualified for the final.

Another Armenian representative Artur Davtyan (vault) performed the first jump perfectly but failed during the second jump. Overall the Armenian gymnast scored 14, 566 points and couldn't overcome the qualification round.

The final is set for August 14.
