The Armenian basketball club which will compete in the Russian Superleague will be named “Urartu”.

The Urartu Basketball Club will mainly be comprised of the members of the Armenian National Team, also basketball players from abroad will be invited to play in it. The head coach of the Armenian National Team, Tigran Gyokchyan, will train the team.
The first trainings of the team will be held at Mika Stadium in August.

Still, in Soviet Armenia there was a club called Urartu where the current head coach of the Armenia national basketball team, Tigran Gyokchyan, played.
