Armenia’s women’s weightlifting team member Sona Poghosyan (69kg) scoring a total of 205 kg has placed 5th at the Junior World Weightlifting Championships.
The Junior World Weightlifting Championships are under way in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi where in the women’s 69kg weight class competition Armenia’s Sona Poghosyan lifted 93kg in the snatch but failed to hold overhead 96kg. In the clean and jerk Sona lifted 112kg. Scoring a total of 205kg Sona placed 5th. Ecuador’s Berera Dayomez became the world champion.
The Georgian capital city of Tbilisi is hosting the 2016 IWF Junior World Championships from June 23 to July 2 where Armenia will be represented by the following athletes – Zhorzh Yeghikyan (77kg), Davit Hovhannisyan (77kg), Samvel Gasparyan (94kg) and Simon Martirosyan (+105kg). Among girls Arpine Dalalyan will fight for medals too.
