The 21st tournament after Seoul Olympic silver medalist, freestyle wrestler Stepan Sargsyan has kicked off in Vanadzor.
On the first day wrestlers of 57kg, 65kg, 74kg and 97kg weight classes entered the mat.
The members of the Armenian national team, Garik Barseghyan (57kg) and Georgy Ketoyev (97kg), became gold medalists. Barseghyan gained advantage over Russian Hasan Badrudinov in the final and Ketoyev – over Iranian Amir Muhamadu. Garnik Mnatcakanyan at 57kg who had gained a Rio-2016 Olympic qualification became a bronze medalist. Narek Sirunyan at 65kg also grabbed bronze.
Russia’s Alan Gogan was the best at 65kg, and at 74kg the gold medal was taken by Kakhaber Khumbeshti (Russia).
On June 26 wrestlers of 61kg, 70kg, 84kg and 125kg will compete.
